Demonstrators across the U.S. rallied together as part 2018 Women’s March on Saturday (Jan. 20). In Park City, Utah, Common was among the guest speakers at a rally and delivered a rap for the women activists in attendance.

Common recited his powerful verse from "The Day Women Took Over," which is from his 2016 album Black America Again.

“The New World Order is fathers loving their daughters/ And baby’s mamas supported and ladies gettin’ courted / In court, kids can’t be tried as adults / And women, they called bitches because they a boss," he rapped to the rapt crowd. "In all shapes and sizes, beauty is recognized / Goddess and queens is what we use to describe / Now Michelle Alexander wrote the new constitution / Beyoncé made the music for the revolution."

Common wasn't the only celebrity delivering powerful speeches. Actress Viola Davis was at the Women’s March in Los Angeles and saluted the #MeToo Movement and fered encouraging words to the victims sexual harassment.

“When I raise my hand, I am aware all the women who are still in silence. The women who are faceless,” she said. “The women who don’t have the money and don’t have the constitution and who don’t have the confidence and who don’t have the images in our media that gives them a sense self-worth enough to break their silence that is rooted in the shame assault, that’s rooted in the stigma assault.”

“I stand in solidarity with all women who raised their hands because I know that it was not easy,” she added. “My hope for the future is that we never go back.”
