Immediately after surprising the music world with the BBC Radio 1 premiere of the Victor Young a cappella-inspired “Moonlight,” Disclosure have dropped another new song. The pioneering UK electronic duo resurfaced for the first time in months to deliver the track, and nearly 24 hours later have released “Where Angels Fear to Tread.” The new single got another premiere — this time Beats 1‘s Julie Adenuga — and continues to show off the guys’ recent obsession with a cappella stylings. This time, the single features sampling from 1940’s harmonic barbershop jazz quartet The Four Freshman, and is much more experimental in execution. While “Moonlight” delivered deeper beats, “Where Angels Fear to Tread” feels more literal with its downtempo and cinematic transformation of the The Four Freshman’s 1961 interpretation of “Fools Rush In.”
While there is still no word of more music — or a collective project for that matter — on the way from Disclosure, the guys have found a way to stay inspired making their music and delivering it to fans.
