Everyone loves a good surprise from time to time. It’s why horror movies exist, a good jump scare gets the blood going. The unexpected is sublime in many ways. I say all of this because upon listening to CONFESSION’s latest release from FATESKY, a two-track effort called ‘Lucifer’, I was not only surprised but thoroughly delighted.
I won’t lie and say that I wasn’t aware of FATESKY before receiving this release in my inbox, but upon listening I immediately knew that I had made a mistake not discovering these guys earlier. This two-artist team of producers already have an official remix of Tchami x MALAA under their belt, and with this latest release, they are poised to make some noise in the house genre as 2018 begins to come to a close.
FATESKY – Lucifer
The story of Lucifer is an interesting one. To the best of my knowledge (and without looking it up) he was one of God’s favorite angels before getting into some naughty business and getting cast down to hell below. While the exact facts on that anecdote might be spotty it is important to understand there is a stark juxtaposition of who he was as an angel, and who he ultimately ended up becoming. FATESKY mimicked this perfectly in this EP, and I am left wondering if it was in fact intentional.
The EP starts off with the title track. ‘Lucifer’ is chaotic in sections but includes angelic melodic breaks reminiscent of what Moon Boots has been up to as of late. It is an intriguing cut that is a bit all over the place in the best way possible. The closing tune on the EP, a collaboration with Kage called ‘Move & Groove’ holds nothing back. Just as Lucifer was cast to the depths of hell, this tune gets really dirty and rough real quick. Complete with heavily filtered vocals and a delicious driving beat ‘Move & Groove’ is electrifying.
Overall this is one of the strongest EP’s CONFESSION has put out so far this year. Take a listen below and support FATESKY on socials as well.
