According to TMZ, 26-year-old Mac Miller has died of an apparent overdose.
Local law enforcement were reportedly called to the rapper’s San Fernando Valley home around 12 p.m. Friday, September 7, where they pronounced him dead at the scene.
The Pittsburgh native — real name Malcolm James McCormick — was supposed to start a tour next month in support of his new music. McCormick released his fifth studio album, Swimming, on August 3.
The artist was launched to fame after his first album, Blue Slide Park, debuted at No. 1 on the U.S. Billboard 200 chart. This accomplishment made it the first independently distributed debut album to top the chart since 1995.
McCormick also produced under the pseudonym Larry Fisherman.
