NPR launches 'Tiny Desk Talks' interview series launching this fall

NPR’s Tiny Desk concert series has brought some of the biggest names in music to their offices to perform intimate, stripped back versions of their music. Since 2008, the program has brought everyone from Chance The Rapper to T-Pain to perform, and has illuminated talented acts like Tank and the Bangas to its larger audience as their shows went viral.

In 2018, NPR launched a Tiny Desk Contest for aspiring acts to submit videos for a chance to win to be featured on the show. The response to the contest was greater than expected, generating 23,000 entries and inspired the team behind the project to launch a new vertical to the Tiny Desk brand entitled Tiny Desk Talks.

Tiny Desk Talks will launch this fall and will bring “curated conversations featuring celebrated voices in music and public radio,” to compliment its concert series, according to a statement from NPR. The series will be hosted in a rotating lineup of cities and will discuss a variety of topics, ranging from how to get discovered in the music industry to the journey of an album from start to finish. A version of their own master class, tickets will be available for the public to attend these talks and go on sale Wednesday, August 8 at 12:00 p.m. EST/9:00 a.m. PST.
