Virgil Abloh adds jazzy touch to Martinez Brothers & Tiga's 'Blessed'
Virgil Abloh‘s latest creative endeavor is a remake of The Martinez Brothers and Tiga’s 2018 hit, “Blessed.” He’s transformed it into a future jazz number with lo-fi overtones, replacing “Blessed’s” gritter electro elements and 4/4 rhythm with breaks and loungey instrumentals. The mellowed take stands as a complementary counterpart to the original and speaks to Abloh’s aesthetic behind the decks. It comes out on May 31 Turbo, with an additional remix to their other collaboration, “Cleopatra,” by Ricardo Villalobos.
Outside the studio, Abloh also paired with Pioneer DJ to design custom, translucent versions of the CDJ-2000NXS2 and DJM-900NXS2. The machinery will be shown at the Chicago MoMA throughout the summer season.
