First Listen: Neil Jackson’s 'Wow' has serious subwoofer appeal

From listeners, Neil Jackson’s latest single is sure to elicit the exclamation of its title: “Wow.” The sequel to Jackson’s first original production, “Make it Rain,” released in April 2019, “Wow” is a heady foray into bumping bass house territory. Jackson doesn’t tread lightly. The reverberating bass that imbues “Wow” with potent subwoofer appeal commands a powerful presence, permeating the track for just over three-minutes of adrenaline spiking activity.

Galvanizing verses submitted by featured artist, The Kid Daytona, function as the sonic cherry atop the punchy bass house/hip-hop hybrid. The cohesion of “Wow’s” vocal and its arrangement enable the single to pack a sonic 1-2. On “Wow,” Jackson drops a pin. His location? His wheelhouse.

Listeners local to the Tri-state area need not stray far to find Jackson dominating the decks. The Los Angeles import notably relocated to New York in 2002, and has since become a fixture of the metropolitan musical landscape. Lavo, Marquee, and Tao Nightclub have all seen guest performances from Jackson, who has also frequented Atlanta’s Ravine and Chicago’s Studio Paris, among other national and international venues alike.
