Justin Bieber to break four-year hiatus with 2020 album, tour, docuseries – EDM All Day
The Biebs is back.
After a four-year hiatus from solo productions, Justin Bieber will make his return to music with the release of “Yummy” on January 3. “Yummy” precedes Bieber’s still untitled fifth studio album. The LP will follow 2015’s Purpose. With its commercially embraced inclusions, “What Do You Mean?” and “Sorry,” Purpose further cemented Bieber into pop culture and the musical mainstream.
Entitled “#BIEBER2020,” the promotional video announcing Bieber’s album, tour, and docuseries depicts the “Baby” singer quietly and unimposingly toeing Los Angeles’ dusty landscape.
“As humans, we are all imperfect,” Bieber says. “My past, my mistakes, all the things that I’ve been through–I believe that I’m right where I’m supposed to be and God has me right where He wants me.”
Although the news of Bieber’s sonic resurrection will surprise some, for many, it is not unexpected. Bieber notably returned to stage for the first time in two years during Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival‘s second weekend of 2019 programming. Coachella headliner, Ariana Grande, brought out the Biebs to perform “Sorry,” but Bieber did more than just deliver the Skrillex-produced hit: “New album coming soon,” he told the crowd in Indio Valley.
For the most part, Bieber has been voluntarily absent from the music scene, but has nevertheless enjoyed success in recent years by lending his voice to several high-profile productions, such as the Luis Fonsi and Daddy Yankee-led remix of “Despacito” and “I Don’t Care,” with Ed Sheeran. Following its April 2017 release, “Despacito” became the most streamed record of all time, garnering 4.6 billion streams and subsequently displacing “Sorry,” the former title holder.
Bieber additionally made a cameo on Post Malone‘s debut album, Stoney. His vocal served as a silky complement to Malone’s angelic pipes on track three, “Deja Vu,” of the 2016 LP.
