Rüfüs Du Sol accidentally announce a special new album

It’s been a big few years for Australian band Rüfüs Du Sol both here and abroad with an astronomical rise with their sweet, sweet musical serenades but also, their ability to bring that to live when performing live. Honestly, if you’ve ever caught the guys at a festival or show, you’ll know what we’re talking about here.

Well, let’s just say something special has just appeared on the horizon which will please all fans.

Talking to Variety about their Grammy nods, keyboardist of the trio Jon George, revealed the band has actually recorded a live album from a previous trip to the Valley Of the Yuccas, which is south of the famed Joshua Tree National Park, known for its natural beauty.

“We recorded a live album out there late last year. No one knows about that just yet, so I guess this is the exclusive on that. But, we loved it so much out there we thought that we need to come back on our next writing trip and set up here for a couple of weeks and really dig into some ideas.”

That’s right, a freakin’ live album, something never done before from the band but a timely place to release following their three stellar albums ‘Atlas’ from 2013, ‘Bloom’ in 2016 and 2018 snack ‘Solace’.

Also in the chat Jon touches on albums in a streaming world and dropped some glorious wisdom we can all appreciate;

“We love albums. All our favorite artists are our favorites because of the albums they have created that we’ve lived with. So we are gonna tell you that if artists want to make albums, we are going to listen to them.”

At the moment details are pretty thin about the album but if their absolute heart-throbbing catalog is anything to go by, this will be full of the feels.

Dive into a live performance of ‘Innerbloom’ at a home show below, and if that’s not enough, their BBC Radio 1 Essential Mix still keeps our feet tapping.
