Kyle Watson gifts two left field bass-house tracks to Higher Ground [Stream]

For the bass-house fans who need a little obscurity in their rhythms, Kyle Watson is here for you. The South African tech house maestro’s latest EP Major Games is certainly some of his most adventurous works to date; the EP is dripping from top to bottom with unique vocal samples, synth stabs, and compelling textures. Watson’s attention to detail layered over a banging bass-house foundation makes this EP a surefire party starter.

Major Games marks a bit of a departure from Higher Ground‘s typical sound as well. Diplo‘s recently minted house imprint trends towards either deep-inspired or soul-inspired house themes, similar to the label’s latest release from Diplo and Wax Motif. While Watson’s label debut is heavily reminiscent of Walker & Royce’s Rave Grave EP, the debut release on Higher Ground, it’s a good reminder about how versatile the burgeoning imprint is proving to be.
