Matt Fax ventures into dark progressive with refined sophomore album, 'Progressions'
Progressive prodigy Matt Fax has returned with his second studio album Progressions. The result of three years of growth and artistic development, the latest full-length follows on his 2017 debut LP Contrast and testifies to the Colorize talent’s blossoming into the next chapter of his sound. Exploring an expansive approach to progressive house, Fax delivers a clean, poignant, and highly-meticulous execution that is concurrently fresh and signature.
Enlisting trance legend BT, Richard Bedford, RBBTS, Trove, and more on his vast 17-track expression, Fax delves into a darker sophistication in his deployment of sonics—showcasing a maturity in multiple complexions of progressive. Crafting finely-tuned textures through a myriad of synths, refined drums, and pace-driving bass, the heavily-lauded Frenchman envelops ethereal ambiance, anthemic qualities, and pure energy under one cohesive house as he takes his learnings into unmarked territory.
“This album marks a brand new era for me. It showcases a darker and a more melancholic sound than what I’ve been releasing so far, it totally defines me as the person I am today. I wanted to push the boundaries of my sound and explore new territories I couldn’t explore previously due of my lack of knowledge. I worked a full year, almost 24/7, on 60+ tracks to be able to select the best of the best to put on the record,” stated Fax.
