Techno Music Is Not Helpful For Battling Anxiety, A Recent Study Shows
We have some unpleasant news for EDM enthusiasts. A recent study done by Vera Clinic on participants between the age of 18 and 65 showed that Techno music is “least effective at reducing anxiety.”
There were 1540 participants, with a monitor tracking their blood pressure and heart rate while they were listening to playlists of different genres.
Based on the insights, the subject’s blood pressure increased while listening to techno, 70’s rock, and dubstep. While heavy metal, ’80s and early 2000’s pop genres led to a decrease.
One of the doctors who was part of the study said that the 80’s hit incited the release of endorphins and serotonin in the brain. He added, “in terms of heavy metal, I’d observe that angry music can help listeners process their feelings and as a result lead to greater well-being.”
Although the study proved that Techno and anxiety are not compatible together, anyone who has been to EDM concerts might think otherwise. For many EDM fans, the genre possesses therapeutic and hypnotic powers.
