The man behind some of the biggest Pop icons of the last years is moving on from his defining journey.

Music manager Scooter Braun, the mastermind behind superstars like Justin Bieber and Ariana Grande, announced his retirement from artist management today. This marks the end of a remarkable 23-year run where Braun played a pivotal role in shaping the careers of some of the 21st Century’s biggest pop icons.

In a heartfelt statement released on social media, Braun reflected on his journey, describing it as a “Forrest Gump-like life” filled with incredible experiences. He expressed his gratitude for witnessing and contributing to the success of some of the most talented artists in the world. However, Braun also acknowledged a growing desire to shift his focus.

It’s a strange feeling“, Braun admitted. “While I think I’ve wanted this for a while, there was a fear of asking ‘who would I be without them?’” He noted starting his career at a young age, dedicating himself to the demanding role of an artist manager for over two decades. While initially fulfilling, Braun ultimately decided to prioritize his family life.

While I think I’ve wanted this for a while, there was a fear of asking ‘who would I be without them?’

This next chapter will see Braun step into a more prominent role at HYBE America, the company he joined after HYBE’s acquisition of Ithaca Holdings in 2021. Ithaca encompasses both of his firms — SB Projects, Braun’s former management company, and Big Machine Music Group, focused on country music. He expressed his confidence in Allison Kaye and Jennifer McDaniels, who will take over the leadership of the former. He praised them as “two incredibly powerful women” bound to lead the company into a new era, potentially becoming the industry’s “most impressive women-led management business“.
