English electronic music producer Jon Hopkins is teaming up with NASA in producing a single by the title of ‘Forever Held’. This single, which also features the string arrangements of Icelandic multi-instrumentalist Ólafur Arnalds, has a very unique aspect to it as it will get to venture into the moon itself. According to an article from DJ Mag, the journey that the ‘Forever Held’ will undergo is a part of NASA’s “Space For Earth” installation at the space agency’s HQ in Washington D.C. and it will be a very spectacular journey. This installation is a mesmerizing audiovisual experience that allows small groups of viewers to see Earth from space. To add more scientific wonder and intrigue to ‘Forever Held’, the journey that the single will take part in is a part of NASA’s “Lunar Codex” time capsule, which contains works coming from over 35,000 contemporary writers, musicians, artists, and filmmakers.

The planned voyage of Jon Hopkins and Ólafur Arnalds’ ‘Forever Held’ is not the first time that NASA has sent works of music to space. Earlier this past summer, the space agency transmitted ‘The Rain (Supa Dupa Fly)’ by hip-hop icon Missy Elliott to deep space (particularly to the planet Venus) via the agency’s Deep Space Network (DSN). Furthermore, at the beginning of this year, the Kennedy Space Center threw down an after-hours “Rechno party” titled “Kennedy Under The Stars”, on February 2nd and it included amazing live DJ sets, mini golf under neon lights, and interactive science experiments (and this event even came back on August 31st as well). Ken’s favorite music genres are rap, French & English Afrobeats, reggaeton, drill, rock (mostly metalcore and pop-punk), and of course, electronic music (especially French and Dutch house, German trance, Belgian techno, and British dubstep). Though he likes many sports, his main favorite sport is still the beautiful game of football (a.k.a in American English, soccer).
