Today, I will be reviewing “Immortal” by RZRKT.
What I have said on “Dread” can be applied here, which are gloomy atmosphere, massive drops and various rhythms. However, there are a few things in the latter that are subjectively more impressive than the prior in my opinion.
The gloomier Hard Techno drop makes it much more enjoyable and much easier to follow. It is an improvement from the last one. Aside from that, I am fond of the melody which makes it much more similar to a sequel to “Dread”. The gritty and otherworldly sound design in the dubstep drops also helps make it more interesting and terrifying in a good way.
Although it has the same style “Dread”, this is undeniably one of the most enticing musical sequels I have listened to so far. It makes me feel engaged, and I look forward to it. Despite their similarities which are the key (C Sharp minor) and the drop structure (“dubstep – techno – dubstep” structure), they do not bother me much.
To sum it up, I have to say that “Immortal” is another brutal and insane masterpiece aside from “Dread” which I reviewed two months ago. Both are similar but they are extremely enjoyable and intense, and the immaculate style for such horrifying twists really makes it more gratifying and satisfying. Those are the reasons that I am still invested in RZRKT’s upcoming EP or LP. But for now, that’s two for two for RZRKT!
