A-Trak offers tasty twofer with Loods and Friend Within on 'Blaze,' and 'What Can I Do' [Stream]
As the decade draws to a close and we flock to dance floors to celebrate a momentous ten-year span for dance music, A-Trak has dropped off an easy-going setlist enhancer to ring in the party with. Grabbing Friend Within for “Blaze,” following Loods-assisted “What Can I Do,” the Fools Gold figurehead delivers a double sided disco-inspired listen that brings all the feels just ahead of the ball drop.
The release’s first offering, “Blaze” does just that, as a solid five-minute dance floor burner. The track is a funky, howling house piece that invokes a distinct Duck Sauce recall, while the second cut, “What Can I Do,” slows things down considerably, while keeping things firmly in the same lane set by “Blaze.” A more vocal-driven take that derives from a much heavier disco influence, “What Can I Do,” weaves bellowing piano strokes into a tasty dance groove. Both tracks share an unmistakable A-Trak quality, laying a nice ribbon and bow over Fool’s Gold’s catalog for the year.
