Aloe Blacc reveals several new songs with Avicii recorded, “some just as big as ‘Wake Me Up’”

April 10 was an emotional moment collectively for dance music. Avicii‘s first posthumous material, “SOS” was officially released, the lead single from the late Swedish superstar’s forthcoming album, TIM. The new song features soul vocalist Aloe Blacc, who famously last lent his vocals to Avicii’s year-defining “Wake Me Up” in 2013, coincidentally also the lead single on Avicii’s True LP. Just ahead of the global release of “SOS,” Seattle radio station C89.5 aired a short interview clip with Blacc, in which the vocalist makes some exciting revelations about additional collaborations with Avicii to come.

“It was a special moment for me. I had the opportunity to go into the studio with [Avicii] and work on several songs that haven’t come out. Some are just as big as ‘Wake Me Up,’” says Blacc in the short audio clip.

For frame of reference, “Wake Me Up” peaked at number four in the U.S., topped the UK singles chart, claimed the top spot on Australia’s chart. The track managed to top charts in nearly every country that tracks such stats, and currently boasts nearly a billion streams on Spotify. If “SOS” is any indication of what Blacc and Avicii managed to accomplish before his passing, Tim Bergling may be a fixture atop the charts for a long time to come… and that would be quite the way to keep his memory alive. Hear “SOS” below.
