Apple Music introduces 'Shazam Discovery' chart to help fans discover new artists

In its diligence to stay ahead of the curve, Apple Music has announced a new feature called the Shazam Discovery Top 50 that compiles a weekly playlist of 50 artists that are “on the move and trending.” To put together this feature, Apple Music says it uses “Shazam’s proprietary algorithms [to offer] a unique predictive view on rising artists and reacting tracks to Apple Music subscribers.”

The first Shazam Discovery Top 50 that’s been released is topped by Ohana Bam, A$ton Wyld, Tones and I, and many more. While many of the names may be unknown to most, dance music fans may recognize a trance heavyweight in the mix. (Check out the 47th slot.)

In its editors’ note on the inaugural playlist, the company described the debut compilation in this way:

“Want to be ahead of the curve? The global Shazam Discovery Top 50, powered by Shazams from around the world and updated once a week, compiles up-and-coming songs from breaking artists. If you hear a song you like, add it to your library. “

The playlist will be updated each Tuesday. Hit “play” on the first installment here.
