Apple may have some pretty major developments in store for the second rollout of its wireless AirPods.
Following the company’s recent reports of water-resistant and noise-canceling Airpods on the way, it’s now rumored that the wireless headphones’ case will be able to charge the iPhone, or at the very least the latest 8, 8 Plus, and X devices.
Currently, the news is just speculation, though it was originally reported by a Nikkei, a trusted tech source, and also Engadget. Based on Apple’s recent developments though, the AirPod-enabled charging is widely believed to be the company’s next logical move after it announced the arrival of wireless charging pads was imminent.
Still, there is a large amount of uncertainty surrounding the release of the new headphones. Some recent supports have suggested a September release, as this is the usual time Apple announces its new products at its annual fall keynote. Ultimately, consumers will have to wait and see what the tech giant has up their sleeve — only time will tell.
