Ariana Grande releases her next radio-destined single, 'boyfriend'
Ariana Grande captures the zeitgeist of contemporary millennial dating in her latest single, “boyfriend.” Case in point, the lyrical content of the song’s choruses: “You ain’t my boyfriend/I ain’t your girlfriend/But you don’t want me to see nobody else/And I don’t want you to see nobody,” Grande sings. It’s a laid-back, casually confessional cut that plays to Grande’s strengths: vocal-centric, romantically contemplative statement productions.
Two-man outfit, Social House, score a feature on the track. Their silky vocal contributions amplify the single’s catchy appeal, while complementing the songstress’ own smoothly delivered verses. The inevitably radio-destined effort is the successor to Grande’s prior single, “MONOPOLY,” which featured Victoria Monét.
