Armin van Buuren Unveils His Twenty-First Year Mix: ‘A State of Trance Year Mix 2024’

It’s only human to feel lost and disconnected at times, but what if these moments of uncertainty actually guide us to brighter futures? It’s in this spirit of discovery and stepping outside the comfort zone that ‘A State of Trance Year Mix 2024’ invites listeners on a journey beyond the expected.

For the first time ever in an A State of Trance Year Mix, the legendary Moby voices the inspirational intro, urging listeners to break free from self-imposed barriers and embrace the limitless potential of the journey ahead.

Across Moby‘s narration and its 113 tracks, this twenty-first year-culminating mix is designed to push boundaries, weaving together the sounds that share a soul rather than a genre tag.

Comprising productions from scene favorites such as Armin van Buuren, Ben Gold, Laura van Dam, Paul van Dyk and Aly & Fila, as well as those of Adam Beyer, HI-LO, Joris Voorn and KI/KI, the year mix upholds its trance legacy whilst embracing the sounds that were once given a different label.

“Over the years, I’ve found that the genre tags commonly used to categorize music don’t work for me,” says Armin van Buuren. “What matters is the sound and vibe they embody. Their soul, so to say. So I’d advise anyone who loves music to break down those barriers and embrace that different styles can be very complementary to one another. And I hope this A State of Trance year mix shows that!”

“Even before we started working together on our new version of ‘Extreme Ways’, I’ve had incredible respect for Armin and how he casts his gaze beyond the genre boundaries,” Moby adds. “This mix album embodies that part of him, and I am proud to have been asked to narrate the intro for this year’s installment of the series.”
