Martin Garrix and tech house might seem like an unlikely coupling. But the two camps have linked up on Bart B More‘s second release on Garrix’s imprint STMPD RCRDS. Following the release of Street EP earlier this year, More has joined the label again for a two-track release entitled Lights Out.
Bart B More has proven himself to be a versatile artist across almost two decades of work. He’s demonstrated a lack of genre lines throughout his career, owning space and style successfully in pop, across bass and tech. Now on his latest, he’s returned to his wheelhouse of hip-hop-inspired house music. Starting with the EP’s title track, More brings retro shuffling beats together with grinding synths typically only seen in bass music. Finishing out with “Wack,” he’s reworked Kriss Kross’s iconic 1992 track “Jump” into a hypnotizing future house track with an off-kilter sense of ominousness.
