BJ The Chicago Kid enlists Afrojack in lead-up track to sophomore LP, 'Reach'
BJ The Chicago Kid releases “Reach,” the final taste in preparation for his second long play, 1123, set to be released July 23 through Motown Records. The singer-songwriter teamed up with Dutch house factotum Afrojack for a driving four-on-the-floor backing to the soulful piano-accompanied ballad. With an incremental energy build, the Chicago-native crooner ups his emotive tone next to jazzy snaps for an inspirational, uplifting atmosphere.
“Reach” is the third single from BJ’s upcoming project, following “Time Today” and the “Worryin’ Bout Me” featuring Offsets. The album is also set to feature Buddy, J.I.D, Anderson .Paak, Rick Ross, and more. BJ The Chicago Kid soulful prowess earned him three Grammy nominations on his debut In My Mind LP which featured Billboard chart-topping “Church” with Chance The Rapper and a collaboration featuring Kendrick Lamar, “The New Cupid.”
