Bonobo teams up with Aussie singer for new single

A name that needs no introduction is Bonobo and he’s teased new music with Australia’s very own Jordan Rakei, from his forthcoming album Fragments that’s due out on January 14th.

No stranger to house music, Rakei has previously worked with Disclosure on the single Masterpiece from their Caracal album.

Titled Shadows, the new Bonobo single is dreamy and reflective in tone and takes a lot of influence from the darker side of house and ambient music. The song is filled with funky sounding arpeggiators and lead softly by Jordan’s subtle, yet distinct vocals. Jordan’s wide vocal range has in a way been dialled back to make way for Bonobo’s production to glide with.

On the song, Bonobo went into detail saying:

“The instrumental existed as a slow evolving throwback Detroit thing. I had people like Theo Parish and Moodyman in mind when I was making it. It’s been one of my favourites from the new album since day one.”
