Detroit techno icon Carl Craig has announced the release of the official soundtrack for ‘Desire: The Carl Craig Story’, the upcoming documentary chronicling his life and legacy.

Set for release via his own Planet E Recordings, the soundtrack spans decades of his work, including rare and previously unreleased tracks, offering a deep dive into his extensive catalog and evolution as a producer.

Leading the release is ‘No More Words,’ originally released in 1991 and now available digitally for the first time. The track embodies Craig’s signature emotional synth work and hypnotic grooves that would go on to define Detroit’s second wave of techno.

Directed by Jean-Cosme Delaloye and produced by Sovereign Films, ‘Desire: The Carl Craig Story’ documents Craig’s journey from Detroit’s middle-class neighborhoods to international acclaim. The film explores his influential role in bridging music, art, and fashion—featuring his collaborations with Bottega Veneta and the museum-acquired Party/After-Party installation.

With appearances from key figures like Gilles Peterson, Laurent Garnier, DJ Minx, Moritz von Oswald, and James Lavelle, ‘Desire’ also shines a light on Detroit’s black creative excellence and the often-overlooked African-American roots of electronic music.

The documentary premieres on May 8th, 2025, in 30 theaters across the UK and Ireland, with a United States release to follow.
