Cashmere Cat incites next chapter with 'EMOTIONS' music video and album announcement – EDM All Day
“I guess you could say i was scared.. so i created princess catgirl to be the face of my music. she makes me feel safe.” – Cashmere Cat wrote Twitter recently.
Just this week, Norwegian future-bass anomaly, Cashmere Cat took to social media to announce his forthcoming album and newly concepted digital persona of the same name, PRINCESS CATGIRL. Today, fans get a glimpse of the project’s lead single, “EMOTIONS,” a bright and bass-y rattler that shows Cashmere Cat returning to his hyper-melodic roots following the 2018’s collaboration with Major Lazer, “Miss You.”
Cashmere Cat pounced over to YouTube for a Q&A with fans before dropping the official music video for “EMOTIONS” Friday afternoon. Therein, he revealed that the vocal track for the single is attributed to none-other than PRINCESS CATGIRL herself, and that fans can anticipate the full album dropping “really soon…hopefully.” It’s still unclear if the vocoded vocal belongs to the producer himself or a yet-to-be-named entity.
The video for “EMOTIONS” gives PRINCESS CATGIRL a proper introduction to the Cashmere collective, playing and prancing among the Cat’s sonic effervescence. A technical feat in itself, the music video employs a staff of over a dozen, choreographed and performed by Margaret Qualley, recognizable from recent Once Upon a Time In… Hollywood fame.
