Charli XCX releases 'Cross You Out,' the fourth single from her upcoming LP
Charli XCX has released “Cross You Out” featuring Sky Ferreira, the fourth single from her upcoming album, Charli, set to be released Sept. 13. The previous three singles include “1999” featuring Troye Sivan, “Blame It On Your Love” featuring Lizzo, and “Gone” featuring Christine and the Queens.
While the previous releases run with a more uplifting atmosphere, “Cross You Out” presents the English pop singer and songwriter’s more moody side. Gritty synths march along murky chords and bright keys as the feature act repeats the phrase “when you’re not around.” Everything about the track denotes dreamlike sensibilities and features semi-industrial production from Lotus IV and A.G. Cook.
After the album release, Charli XCX will embark on a U.S. and European tour, with performances she says she hopes will feel more like a rave than a pop concert. The tour aims to curate a house party atmosphere with special guests and live renderings of her music, braking down the barrier between the performer and the audience.
