Corey Taylor’s Newest Single “Post Traumatic Blues”
Corey Taylor, the esteemed frontman of American heavy metal band Slipknot, has dropped a new single “Post Traumatic Blues” on July 11, 2023. As an accomplished singer-songwriter, this release constitutes another significant chapter in Taylor’s illustrious solo career. This emotionally charged piece is the second single to emerge from his much-anticipated second solo album “CMF2“, coming after “Beyond”, which was released earlier in May.
“Post Traumatic Blues” is a result of Taylor’s creative prowess, having been both written and produced by him, with Jay Ruston as co-producer. It’s an attempt by the seasoned singer to bring forth the hardships of dealing with Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD). He hopes to create a lyrical connection, bridging the gap between those suffering from the condition and those around them seeking to comprehend and assist.
In a press release, Taylor expressed, “’Post Traumatic Blues‘ is my attempt to describe for people what it’s like to deal with PTSD. Sometimes it’s so hard for people to understand the ups and downs, the severity of the cold and numbness, that I wanted to try and build a bridge lyrically between the ones living with the disease and the ones who are trying to help them.”
Fans eagerly await the full 13-track album, which is slated for a September 15, 2023, release. This constitutes Taylor’s first body of work since his debut solo album “CMFT” from 2020, making it an exciting return after a three-year hiatus.
Outside of his music career, Taylor has shown his altruistic side by launching the non-profit Taylor Foundation in 2022. This organization is committed to assisting veterans, first responders, and others grappling with PTSD, providing them the support they need.
He states, “During my career, I’ve been privileged to have many veterans and people in emergency service support me, telling me how much my music has helped them with everything they’ve had to endure – from combat to stress on the job to the inevitable repercussions that come from PTSD. Now, it’s my turn to give back as much as I can to them.”
