Daft Punk’s iconic visual album ‘Interstella 5555: The 5tory of the 5ecret 5tar 5ystem’ will return to cinema screens worldwide on December 12th, 2024. This one-night-only event will showcase a 4K remastered version of the 2003 anime masterpiece, created in collaboration with manga artist Leiji Matsumoto and Toei Animation.
Marc Allenby, CEO of Trafalgar Releasing, expressed his enthusiasm: “This is a rare opportunity to experience the film on the big screen, along with accompanying Daft Punk music videos, and we can’t wait to share it with audiences everywhere.”
‘Interstella 5555’ serves as a visual companion to Daft Punk’s seminal 2001 album ‘Discovery.’ The film weaves a narrative about an alien music band’s abduction by a nefarious human, set against the backdrop of the album’s electrifying tracks.
To commemorate this cinematic event, a special ‘Discovery: Interstella 5555 Edition’ will be released in limited quantities. This collector’s item will feature the original Japanese edition artwork, exclusive stickers, and the coveted Daft Club card. Fans can choose from 5,555 gold vinyl records, 5,555 numbered CDs, or 25,000 black vinyl records.
Additionally, a line of limited-edition merchandise featuring the Crescendolls—the animated band central to the film’s plot—will be available through Daft Punk’s official shop.
The global screening of ‘Interstella 5555’ will take place in over 800 cinemas across more than 40 countries. Tickets go on sale Wednesday, November 13. Grab yours here.
