’s new single ‘I Need You’ is an exciting slice electronic music bliss: one third dubstep, one third drum n bass and one third pure aural pleasure. Released on the Canadian powerhouse imprint Monstercat, the duo has once again proved just why they are so highly regarded. As it turns out, Delta Heavy is currently right in the middle their Australian and New Zealand tour, so we thought a quick chat with one the scene’s most loved duos is too good to pass up…
You’re currently in the middle your Aus/NZ leg your tour, how have the shows been so far?
It’s been a great tour so far!
Paradise Lost in Perth was a sell out! Talk us through the night, how does it feel to take your own visual production to the other side the globe?
Yeah Perth was madness! For sure one our favourite ever shows. Perth has always been great to play in so to be able to take our production and do a proper show on the other side the world was really exciting and it certainly paid f. Being in a new venue felt fresh as well and it was quite an electric atmosphere. It will be remembered for a long time!
‘I Need You’ was used as the intro to your sets for some time and recently dropped on Monstercat for your debut on the label. What does a release on Monstercat mean to you?
It’s actually our second release as we did the collab track ‘Stay’ with Dirty Audio last year but it’s our first solo release and a big move for us. We’ve been really impressed with Monstercat as a label. They have a huge audience and put out such a wide variety music. It’s been a pleasure to work with them and has further enabled us to release a large variety genres and sounds.
Your live shows get proper sweaty, where has been one the loosest crowds you’ve played to?
Perth for sure! Reading festival in the UK is utterly mental as well as Auckland and Vancouver.
Finally, what’s in the works for Delta Heavy?
There is more new music on the way! Our new single is coming out in April. Details will be announced very soon. Beyond that we are planning more Paradise Lost dates later in the year and also working on a number collaborations.
Enjoy the rest your tour!
