The Desert Hearts collective and label is preparing for another exciting edition of its annual festival, this time in a brand-new location, Playa Ponderosa, in Northern Arizona, running from July 4th to the 8th, 2024.
As in previous ones, this year’s lineup is an extensive one led by the co-founders Mikey Lion, Marbs, Lee Reynolds, and Porky, who will be delivering separate sets and their special back-to-back set to close the event. Also, a group of representative artists and friends are included with names such as Walker & Royce, Anja Schneider, Doc Martin, VNSSA, Nick Warren, Mira, Gorje Hewek, Coco & Breezy, Atish, Ky William, Tara Brooks, Lisbona Sisters, Life On Planets, Öona Dahl, Rinzen, Kevin Knapp, Gettoblaster, Ardalan, Nala, Mary Droppinz, SHADED, Lubelski, and many more.
“The festival industry is in a make-or-break moment of time as it grapples with rising costs, market saturation, and a stalling economy. Independent festivals and the communities that grow around them are the heart and soul of the music world, but they are struggling to survive”, Mikey Lion from Desert Hearts commented. “While many festivals focus on recycling the same trending headliners to compete with festival giants, Desert Hearts is taking a different approach. This year our festival is focused on building up our community, showcasing label friends and family, talented local DJs, and a number of our favorite international touring artists. Desert Hearts Festival is “One Stage, One Vibe” playing nonstop house & techno all weekend long,” he added.
On this occasion the collective will be teaming up with its longtime allies Walter Productions, based on a decade-long relationship, to reinvigorate their foundational ethos, bringing their fleet of art cars, live painters, installations, and other related activities.
Nestled in the Coconino National Forest just 30 minutes outside of Flagstaff, the 75-acre private property of Playa Ponderosa sits at an elevation of 7,000 feet. The private venue will allow attendees to channel the spirit felt at the festival’s original home of Los Coyotes Indian Reservation.
