Did Diplo just call for a Jack Ü reunion?
Rule number one: Take everything Diplo does on social media with a grain of salt.
But with that said, a look at a recent post from the Mad Decent head honcho on Instagram points to what could be a call to reunite with Skrillex under the Jack Ü banner. Diplo and Skrillex famously teamed up in 2013 to form a dominating dance-pop tag team that had dance music under its thumb until the duo announced an indefinite hiatus in 2016 following a raucous Creamfields performance. After a mixtape, a Madison Square Garden shut down, and a seemingly endless festival circuit, the fallout wasn’t exactly swept under the rug as two of the world’s most ubiquitous producers went back to their separate ways at the top of their joint game. Now, it seems that could change with Diplo’s social media call-to-action.
The Instagram post shows Diplo playing out the pair’s Grammy Award-winning Justin Bieber-assisted smash “Where Are Ü Now,” perhaps reminding us, and maybe even Skrillex, that despite whatever happened between the two, Jack Ü managed to make magic together during their very short run. Maybe a reunion is officially on the horizon?
