Diplo is always keeping us guessing. The Mad Decent helmer just dropped two new house tracks, “Hold You Tight” and “Bubble Up,” telling Beats 1, “I’m trying to develop a new style with house sounds. This is the first of eight records I’m putting out this summer.”
As music’s favorite renaissance man, the culture curator has credentials in hip-hop, dancehall, pop, dance music, and now house music. Oh, he’s also got street cred in the country world as he’s also slated to headline a Stage Coach afterparty this spring.
The Major Lazer frontman released his Europa EP earlier this year, showcasing his A&R prowess by unearthing undiscovered hip-hop talent in Europe. His group with Sia and Labrinth, LSD, is dropping their debut self-titled album on April 12. What’s more—Diplo has set his sights to making Mad Decent Block Party‘s return into a massive festival affair. He’s releasing music with SHAQ and Mark Ronson under his Silk City project. Lastly and sadly, he’s working on what could be Major Lazer’s final album. How Diplo has the time to now dabble in expanding his house chops is a mystery, though they say Random White Dude Be Everywhere, so it’s hard to say we’re surprised.
