Diplo tapped to curate music for Monday Night Football on ESPN
Ah, another week, another episode of Random White Dude Be Everywhere. In this week’s edition, find Diplo in his latest curatorial role, this time linking with ESPN to soundtrack their “Ready For Football” campaign for Monday Night Football.
For his first selection, Diplo is featuring “Ruckus” by Konata Small for this week’s Monday Night Football game—an NFC West showdown between the white-hot San Francisco 49ers and the Seattle Seahawks. According to Diplo, the track captures the intensity expected to fuel the highly anticipated MNF shootout.
ESPN’s VP of Marketing, Emeka Ofodile, explains the move behind bringing the California producer aboard the Monday Night Football team, saying,
“Diplo is a force to be reckoned with and we knew he’d bring great energy to our “Ready For Football” campaign. He also happens to be a big sports fan and we’re looking forward to building something really special around the NFL on ESPN.”
A proud Philadelphia sports supporter, the Higher Ground head honcho’s involvement with the NFL isn’t all too surprising. Between meddling in hip-hop, country music, house music, pop, scripted TV, pro soccer, and now pro football all at once, you’d be hard pressed to find someone contributing more to the current cultural zeitgeist than Diplo.
