DJ Hanzel makes a rare appearance on Dillon Francis's socials
“Hey guys, are you ready to go one deeper?”
The oft-quoted catch phrase from the elusive DJ Hanzel—aka Dillon Francis‘s satirical deep house alter ego—hasn’t been heard in a while. While the mysterious sunglasses-donning DJ was a frequent habitue at Francis’s sets a few years ago, the German (he’s German right?) unce-unce purveyor has been presumably lying dormant in his deep house cavern, until now.
Making his first appearance on social media in a long while, Hanzel resurfaced to give us a glimpse into his day-to-day life.
According to the video post, Hanzel begins every day at 11:12 AM with a rave car wash. He then heads to work, where he handles the important business of taking everything go one deeper (literally). Finally, he spends four hours in his rave deprivation chamber, Clubmaster Ray-Bans on all the while, to think of even deeper ideas he can bring into work the next day.
Hanzel’s only official release came out on Mad Decent in 2016. It was a remix of Dillon Francis and NGHTMRE‘s “Need You,” alongside aesthetically adjacent counterpart, Drezo. Hanzel and Drezo have still yet to release their follow-up single, “Anxiety.” New music from Hanzel and his thick, tongue-in-cheek accent is long overdue.
