DJ Khaled wants to sue Billboard after missing No. 1 spot

After losing out on the Billboard 200 albums No. 1 spot to Tyler, the Creator—who hit his first No. 1 album ever with IGOR—DJ Khaled has not been taking the news lightly. According to insiders, The Father of Asahd producer allegedly threw a temper tantrum, blaming his label for not pushing his numbers and planning on hitting the Billboard Chart with a monster lawsuit for unfairly disqualifying 100,000 of his sales on Father of Asahd. The estimated 100,000 sales were included in bundled energy drink purchases sold through Shop.com; the dispute centered on whether Billboard had initially agreed to include those bundle figures in their calculations. A spokesperson from Billboard stated that Khaled’s downloads were discounted due to “strange anomalies in the data.” However, Billboard is reported to have counted IGOR downloads which were bundled with clothing merch and lawn signs.

Billboard’s president has defended their decision in disqualifying Khaled’s bundle sales, saying “we saw an organization encouraging purchases among their members by promising them material and organizational benefits.” Meanwhile, Roc Nation’s COO Desiree Perez also made a statement disputing Billboard’s decision on behalf of Khaled and other artists who are “forced to navigate bundling an album download with an inexpensive item that still effectively represents their brand.” Both Khaled and Tyler, the Creator fall under Sony representation.

On June 10, Khaled finally dismantled Tyler, the Creator from No. 1 and took to social media to announce the victory.
