Dr. Fresch and BIJOU fire up another G-house collaboration, 'Westside'
G-house tandem Dr. Fresch and BIJOU have released another deep-diving heater, “Westside,” featuring Phoenix rapper Willy Northpole. The track was released BIJOU’s Do Not Duplicate Recordings, a label built to merge infectious basslines with carefully selected hip-hop vocals in an effort to promote the rise of the G-house scene by the head honcho Phoenix native and Dr. Fresch.
Westside is the follow-up to Dr. Fresch and BIJOU’s “Kung Fu” track that was popular at festivals last year. “Westside” pays homage to the early G-house roots with Willy Northpole as a prominent feature on the track. Northpole’s vocals are introduced immediately alongside a riser, cutting out the fluff and getting to the drop merely 16 seconds into the song. A heavy rocking bass and kick drum dance back and forth, while Northpole eventually jumps in for that hyphy-style hook.
Dr. Fresch and BIJOU are no strangers to collaboration, having previously teamed up for tracks like “Get Back” on Confession, “Revelation” with Denzel Curry on Insomniac, the Gangsta Party EP, and the infamous Hello – Ice Cube featuring Dr. Dre & MC Ren “Hello” G-house edit.
