EDM All Day’s 5 Under 15K: Vol. 25

5 Under 15k is a feature on EDM All Day dedicated to spotlighting talented up-and-coming and largely undiscovered artists who we believe deserve more exposure. Each edition of 5 Under 15k highlights five artists from a wide variety of genres with under 15,000 followers on SoundCloud or Spotify (at the time of writing).

DEATHPACT

The REZZ collaborator and production enigma continues to lurk in the underground, materializing in the live mise en scène for the first time at this year’s Shambhala, with the artist gaining support on the released mix from deadmau5‘s mau5trap. The masked mid-tempo figure donned an LED shroud over the face, resembling the ever-changing ellipsoid used in all the project’s cover art.

This year, Deathpact was also featured on REZZ’s Beyond The Senses EP for their “Kiss of Death” collaboration, in addition a two-track Departure EP through mau5trap. Deathpact has also collaborated with the 2018 standout 1788-L, as both came to prominence last year from their bass driven sounds with glitched-out spins. Whoever is behind the Deathpact veil certainly has more in store for their expectedly fruitful future.

VAMPA

Supported by the likes of Zeds Dead‘s Deadbeats, Black Tiger Sex Machine‘s KANNIBALEN RECORDS, Boogie T‘s Drama Club Recordings, and Big Beat Records, this vampiric bass bat has made her name in low-end places that matter. Gearing up to play Lost Lands this weekend, the bass purveyor is also looking forward to supporting Riot Ten on tour and slaying a set at Lights All Night, where she’ll share the stage with Skrillex, Bassnectar, Virtual Self and many more heavy hitters in the bass space.

After opening for a grip of talent such as Mija, Boogie T, Trampa, Dubloadz, EPROM, Whipped Cream, Nitti Gritti, Blunts and Blondes, Jphelpz, Xaebor, Yheti, and many more, VAMPA is slowly emerging from her cave with original releases, most recently her Haunting EP released through Deadbeats.

Shadient

The Es*** UK bass producer, Shadient, is a staple at NGHTMRE and Slander‘s Gud Vibrations imprint. The eccentric bass arranger recently teamed up with WAVEDASH for a new heavily thrashing single, “Get Wicked.”

With Boys Noize, Gesaffelstein, and Aphex Twin standing as the the talented producer’s multifarious major influences, one can hear the sound residuals that have guided Shadient towards low-end focus with unique percussion arrangements. Earlier this year, he dropped a four-track EP Divide with Gud Vibrations, and produced some immaculate short play that propped-up his uniquely shadowy sound design bolstered by fierce drum patterns.

Looking forward to performances at this year’s Lost Lands and Freaky Deaky, Shadient recently some audacious exposure opening for REZZ at REZZ ROCKS this year along with an auspicious stop at Electric Zoo.

DYNOHUNTER

DYNOHUNTER is a three-piece live tech-house ensemble from Boulder, Colorado whose cutting-edge performance has earned them slots at Electric Forest, Summer Camp, Joshua Tree, Sonic Bloom, Arise and more. Standing as one of the few live tech-house crossover acts out there, their unique set of sound skills has caught the eyes and ears from some of their biggest like-minded counterparts, and in livetronica at large. They’ve opened for Papadosio, Eoto, Opiuo, Sunsquabi, Ott, and The New Deal as well as supporting world renowned DJ’s Shpongle, Bonobo, Infected Mushroom, Klingande, and The M Machine.

With the organic energy of live instrumentation, their music has also translated well in the studio, blending their electronic influences with live saxophone, bass, and drums. Their most recent EP is an upbeat Latin-inspired two-tracker, Ricardo’s Return. It’s an excellent play for outdoor terrace parties with a deeper and darker tribal atmosphere with fine-tuned percussion, growling synths, and a hypnotic groove.

The three-piece band will be touring this October, hitting the road from Vermont back to their home state of Colorado with a total of 13 live sets: a EDM All Day must-see.

Essonite

Do you miss Pretty Lights? So do we. Essonite is a live electronic group that’s the product of forgotten vinyl, organic analog design, modular synthesis, and live instrumentation. Their sound is a soundscape of funk filled with samples that range in dynamics, harmony, and melody but keep within that groovy electronic feel. Their most recent sonic product, “Sweet Melody,” is a an exemplar reference of their sound, while their 2019 album Falling Into Place, demonstrates the groups long-form prowess in the electronic funk style.

While Essonite is still very deeply seated in the underground, the trio is headlining a sundry of shows after taking years to develop their sound. A deep cut with a sound that’s exudes undeniable nuance earnestly aims to occupy a current gaping void in the electronic space.
