GALEN presents his latest contribution to EG’s mix series with EG.1005. Now streaming on SoundCloud and Mixcloud, the mix showcases GALEN’s masterful selection and mixing abilities, refined through decades of experience.
Drawing from his vast musical knowledge, GALEN weaves together tracks from an impressive roster of contemporary electronic artists. The mix features contributions from Deepstate II, Traffic Signs, Jake The Rapper, DJ T., Nick Maurer, Pezzner, Justin Martin, Clé, Style Of Eye, Paola Ratclif, Rob Garza, Vasuda Sharma, Psychemagic, Furry Freaks, Terra Deva, Tedd Patterson, Inca Kings, The Dynamic Guv’nors, JACKARD, PARKER., Groovestyle, Lis Sarroca, Doorly, Phil Weeks, and GALEN himself.
The inspiration for this mix comes from a night at the Lightning in a Bottle festival, where GALEN commanded The Junkyard, an intimate after-hours stage. As he describes it “Situated on the banks of the lake with the twinkling stars dancing above, I had the honor of putting some of my all-time favorite deep and twisted yet groove-heavy jams into a journey suited for the freaky yet loved-up energy on hand. As per my usual, everything is mixed on the fly and in the moment of what I was feeling from the raucous energy that not only surrounded me in the booth but stretched deep into the far-reaching depths of the dancefloor.”
GALEN has built a strong reputation beyond San Francisco through his work with Sunset Sound System. This project has grown from a local movement into a global phenomenon.
His musical journey spans from early ’90s warehouse parties to today’s festivals. Combining acid house and disco elements, GALEN continues to evolve his sound. He regularly performs at major events like Lightning in a Bottle and curates music for festivals in Croatia and Bulgaria.
