The issue of equality and inclusion has finally been shed light on, after years of racial turbulences in the U.S. and worldwide.

EDM music, just like other fields, faces deeply rooted systematic exclusion of black artists that is not obvious on the surface. 

Hence, in this article, we would like to give a shoutout to the most powerful and gifted EDM DJs and producers. 

  • Flying Lotus: Steven Ellison, also known as Flying Lotus is an American-based multi-talented DJ, record producer, artist, and rapper. He has been on the scene since 2005, and to this date, he has released several critically acclaimed studio albums, Flamagra being the last one. 
  • Carl Cox: The UK-based House and Techno DJ and producer who currently manages Intec Digital records and hosts a radio show called ‘Global’. Cox was featured in several internationally known music gigs: such as Tomorrow Land and Ultra Music Festival.
  • Todd Terry: the New-York-born House DJ who is one of the leading spirits in the Chicago EDM scene. He has countless hits under his belt, most famously are the following: Missing, All Of Me, Figure of Jazz, So Free, and Keep on Jumpin’.
  • Green Velvet: The 52-year-old legacy maker Green Velvet is a multi-genre EDM artist. He has numerous collaborative projects with each of Carl Craig and Dajae. His birth name is Curtis Alan Jones, but he has various nicknames like Green Velvet, Cajmere, Geo Vogt, Gino Vittori, Curan Stone, and Half Pint.
