Florida woman stops man from jumping off an overpass by quoting Linkin Park

Music truly possesses the power to heal.

Recently, Cristina Settanni was driving down the 408 expressway in Orlando, Florida when she saw a man sitting on the overpass, overlooking the edge. In a moment of pure charity and kindness, she stopped her car and went to join the man to ensure he was alright.

Her first instinct to comfort the obviously pain-stricken man? Recite a particularly resonating lyric from Linkin Park song, “One More Light.”

“Who cares if one more light goes out? / I do.”

“I don’t know if it clicked with him, but he just cried,” Settanni told an ABC reporter.

A police officer arrived soon after Settanni approached the man and removed him from danger. He has since been moved to a mental institution to receive care.

Chester Bennington, the lead singer of Linkin Park, tragically took his own life in 2017. Since then “One More Light” — which is the title track of Linkin Park’s final album — has served as a memento to Bennington’s legacy. He would undoubtedly be proud that his music is still helping people find peace.
