Frank Ocean comes out with new single, 'DHL'
Hours after teasing two new singles, “Cayendo” and “Dear April,” Frank Ocean released a full-length piece dubbed “DHL” on the latest episode of his blonded show on Beats 1. The single marks his first full release since 2017, and builds upon his smooth, flowing aesthetic. Ocean’s voice is cut up, twisted, and poured over vibrant basslines and lo-fi background effects that persist through the end of the record.
The singer has come out of his artistic hiatus swinging; outside the growing batch he has on the horizon, Frank Ocean also launched a new queer club night in New York City called PrEP+ and brought French duo Justice out as surprise headliners. Its first night received mixed reviews from critics in attendance, but overall, the artist is looking at quite a positive era of growth and new music ahead. In fact, he might even be exploring clubland beyond hosting his own night, after voicing that he’d been inspired by classic house and techno from the Midwest as of late.
