Frank Ocean set to perform for the first time in two years in NYC
Frank Ocean will end another performance hiatus in New York City, where tonight, October 17, he will help debut a new club night in the city called PrEP+. The club night is named after the HIV prevention drug, and it is presented by Blonded.
On Instagram, Gayletter announced that the event will be “an homage to what could have been of the 1980s’ NYC club scene if the drug PrEP (pre-exposure prophylaxis) — which can be taken daily to prevent HIV/AIDs for those who are not infected but are at high risk — had been invented in that era.”
There will be no photos or videos allowed within the club, and although tickets have already been distributed, no venue has been publicly confirmed for the club night. The October 17 debut is the first of the series, which is expected to enlist world renowned DJs to come perform for each of the club series’ iterations.
Ocean recently told the press that he’d been drawing inspiration from classic house and techno, so his involvement in PrEP+ feels fitting for what seems to be coming musically from the artist.
