Fred again.. didn’t just drop a new track with “Victory Lap”, he dropped a cultural crossover, a city-wide scramble, and a global livestream, all in one night. His first release of 2025, arrived with a pop-up rave at the Brooklyn Paramount, broadcast in real time on Twitch. In “Victory Lap,” Fred again features grime veteran Skepta and streamer-rapper-producer Plaqueboymax, and the trio’s chemistry is as immediate as the fan response.

The track itself is sharp-edged and fully loaded. Fred’s cinematic, emotive electronic production anchors the verses, while Skepta’s controlled fire and Max’s wild-card energy create a high-voltage contrast. Built on a sample from Doechii’s “Swamp B*tches”, the song sounds like internet chaos distilled into rhythm—chaotic, pointed, yet strangely beautiful. The track had been brewing since February, with early versions surfacing during Twitch studio sessions. Yesterday, it came to life both on-screen and onstage.

Fans didn’t just listen—they rushed. Social media footage shows sidewalks packed and cars honking, as word of the Paramount rave spread like fire. Tickets? Scarce. Energy? Maxed out. It was Lorde in Washington Square Park all over again, but with basslines and reloads. Fred again‘s comment during the show—“We absolutely love you, New York. Best place in the world”—felt earned. The city didn’t just host the drop; it became the drop.

More than a release, “Victory Lap” felt like a blueprint for how Fred again.. continues to rewrite the rules of rollout. He’s not just dropping music. He’s dropping moments—the kind that pull fans from scrolls to subways, from screens to streets. And in a year that’s been relatively quiet for him so far, this arrival feels loud in all the right ways. We can’t wait to see him roar louder in his upcoming Asia tour.

“Victory Lap” is out now via Atlantic Records UK. Watch the replay, stream the track, or if you were lucky—just replay it in your memory.
