Giraffage showcases sharp sample work on acidic new single, 'Basketball' [Watch]

A good producer is always looking for ways to expand their creativity; to go one step further than their last piece work. After all, the world is an endless source of inspiration. Ask a guy like Baauer and he’d tell you his inspiration is rooted in worldly travel. Ask Charline Yin about his latest Giraffage project, and he’d direct you to the nearest basketball court.

Where most people would see the hardwood a recreational outlet, Yin saw it as a goldmine of samples. Almost every sound on “Basketball” comes from the track’s namesake applied in different ways. Whether it be simply recording the sound of a bounce to use as a kick or looping one so fast it becomes its own synth, one thing is certain: Yin experiences a basketball game with a keen producer’s ear. The result is an innovative acid house cut that reveals another bold dimension to Giraffage’s sound.
