Frankfurt’s Gregor Tresher has unveiled his most ambitious project to date, ‘False Gods.’ This sixteen-track album marks his return after an eight-year hiatus and is now available via [PIAS] Électronique.
Collaborating with electronic music legends Sven Väth, Laurent Garnier, Josh Wink, and Anja Schneider, the album charts new territory for Tresher. His experience producing Väth’s 2022 album ‘Catharsis’ inspired this creative direction.
Drawing from his early days at Frankfurt’s Omen club, Tresher blends various electronic styles throughout the album. Notable collaborations include ‘Ursa Minor’ with Petar Dundov and ‘Homesick’ with Anja Schneider.
“This album grew very naturally,” says Tresher about his first studio full-length in eight years. “But working closely with other artists didn’t. I always thought I was bad at collaborating because I had this arrogant state of mind: ‘If I do a track all on my own, it will sound exactly the way I want. I’m not going to like it as much if I have to compromise by working with somebody else.”
Visual artist Tobias Rehberger enhances the album’s identity with distinctive cover art that plays with the typography of the track titles.
