Gryffin reclaims the remix throne with his first take in two years for Shawn Mendes' 'If I Can't Have You'
In the primordial stages of Gryffin’s come up, he crafted a discography drenched in spellbinding remixed renderings for a collection of chart-topping artists like Ellie Goulding, CHVRCHES, and Troye Sivan. After taking a brief pause to shift focus on his original productions as well as his upcoming two-part freshman LP, Gravity, Gryffin is turning back the clock for his first remix since his 2017 take on Portugal. The Man’s inescapable “Feel It Still.” For his latest, the “Tie Me Down” producer has been tasked by Grammy-nominated superstar Shawn Mendes to channel his endlessly summery aurora for an official rework of Mendes’ smash hit, “If I Can’t Have You”.
Gryffin has repeatedly had an eye for an applicable set of vocals to lay his polished production abilities behind and his Shawn Mendes take follows that tendency. Having previously teased that the remix would be reminiscent of those “OG Gryffin remix vibes,” Gryffin manages to evoke just that, transforming the sensual ballad into an imposing dance record with his notorious acoustic plucks and warm summer harmonies.
