Illenium, X Ambassadors offer broken-down acoustic of 'In Your Arms'
Nine months later and Illenium’s album, Ascend still preserves the same charm that it did upon the initial listen. While he may have admitted his next sonic phase this past April, issuing a follow-up collaboration alongside Excision, Illenium is far from finished with reshaping the pieces of his third full-length project. Having already been subjected to two acoustic adaptations in both “Crashing” with Bahari and “Good Things Fall Apart” with Jon Bellion, Ascend is now welcoming a similar treatment for the X Ambassadors-assisted track, “In Your Arms.”
There’s certainly no evidence against Illenium’s originals breeding warmth in their own right, but there is something about a bare-bones adjustment that drives its emotion into another extreme. After hosting Sam Harris of X Ambassadors for a live performance during one of his final tour stops in 2019, Illenium is officially reconvening with the album vocalist for a four-minute heartfelt rendition. Future appearances from Illenium do not seem too far off in the distance as he also continues to tease impending collaborations with the likes of Said the Sky and Dabin.
