Armin van Buuren has released his ninth studio album, Breathe Out, now available via Armada Music as of June 27, 2025. The release completes his two-part body of work, Breathe, a deeply personal project that began with last year’s Breathe In. That first chapter was focused on reconnection—with fans, music, and himself. Breathe Out expands that journey outward, fueled by personal transformation, creative clarity, and a renewed sense of self. The announcement follows the release of one of Armin’s most anticipated tracks, ‘Dream A Little Dream’ with Sam Gray, which finally dropped on April 25. Originally premiered at Ultra 2023, the track quickly caught fire across socials and became a staple in Armin’s live sets. The full 51-track double album arrives alongside a striking milestone in Armin’s personal story: his cover debut for Men’s Health Netherlands, symbolizing a complete mental and physical rebirth.

Creativity Through Freedom

More than just a musical sequel, Breathe Out marks a creative breakthrough. Armin enters a new phase of energy, balance, and intentionality. “‘Breathe Out’ really shows how far I’ve come, not just as an artist, but as a person,” Armin shared. “This album is about creative freedom, living fully, and putting everything I’ve learned—especially through my journey with mental health and self-growth—into the music.” That transformation is at the album’s core. The project was born out of deep introspection and the realization that he had been running on autopilot for too long.

Around five years ago, I hit a point where I wasn’t truly happy, energized or present,” he recalls. “I felt like I was drifting, and I needed to wake up.” That turning point led to a full lifestyle overhaul: regular training, mindful eating, and a commitment to mental wellness. “Taking care of my body helped me take care of my mind. It gave me energy, focus, and most importantly, the space to be more present, in life and in music,” he said. With that newfound clarity came a sense of play again in the studio. “I’ve never felt this clear and focused. It gave me the headspace to experiment, collaborate without pressure, and enjoy the process again.

Armin van Buuren’s New Album Breathe Is His Most Expansive Yet

Together, Breathe In and Breathe Out offer a 51-track experience that reflects Armin’s emotional and artistic growth. Breathe In introduced 12 introspective tracks. Breathe Out delivers 39 genre-blending collaborations that push far beyond his comfort zone. The new album includes standout singles like ‘Let It Be For Love’ (feat. JAI RYU) and ‘Want Some More’ (feat. Sam Harper), plus the long-awaited fan favorite ‘Dream A Little Dream’ with Sam Gray. That track, first heard at Ultra 2023, became a social media phenomenon and a staple in Armin’s festival sets.

The project brings together an impressive roster of collaborators: David Guetta, Bon Jovi, Moby, Pendulum, Rob Swire, Gryffin, ALOK, Indira Paganotto, and Oliver Heldens, among others. Each partnership reflects Armin’s desire to push boundaries, blend styles, and let go of past creative constraints. Bon Jovi teams up with Armin on a surprise genre fusion titled ‘Keep The Faith’, while Pendulum and Rob Swire deliver the explosive ‘Sound of You’, mixing drum and bass with trance euphoria. Meanwhile, ‘Take Off’ with ARTBAT and ‘Late Checkout’ with W&W bring Armin’s peak festival sound into full force.

From Transformation to Triumph

What began as a personal reckoning has now been immortalized in sound. Breathe is not just a collection of songs—it’s a document of growth, resilience, and renewal. “It took me a while to get to where I am today. Not just musically, but in terms of balance and clarity,” Armin says. “Everything I’ve learned, every step, every struggle is in this album.” That sense of closure is deeply felt throughout the music. “‘Breathe’ represents a full circle moment. It’s me at peace with who I am. And I hope people can hear that freedom and honesty in the music.

In that same spirit, Armin recently set himself a private challenge: to appear on the cover of Men’s Health. That goal, once personal, has now gone public—his July 2025 cover story stands as a visual symbol of the hard inner work that fueled this artistic high point. “I’m fitter than I’ve ever been, and it’s made me more productive, more creative, and more in love with what I do and who I am.”

The New Album Breathe Carries Armin van Buuren’s Message Beyond the Music

With his new album Breathe, Armin van Buuren aims to contribute to a larger cultural shift in the dance world. One rooted in honesty, wellness, and mental health awareness. “Realizing how easily this can happen, how it can affect both your personal life and career, and how hard it is to control, I want to help normalize conversations around mental health, especially in this industry,” he explained. “It’s something I’ve wrestled with for a long time, and I’ve come to see that vulnerability can be a real strength.” Through this album, Armin shares his journey and encourages others to step into their own healing, balance, and self-expression.

‘Breathe’ is out now on all platforms via Armada Music.
