James Blake drops innovative new EP, announces special Boiler Room show
English crooner James Blake has shared a new EP and told fans of a special appearance on Boiler Room following a 10-year break from the live-streaming giant.
The ‘Before’ EP features four unsurprisingly melancholy slices of electronica with suitably ambiguous names such as “I Keep Calling” and “Do You Ever”. It also follows a recent ditty with fellow Brits slowthai and Mount Kimbie that is still getting plenty of rotation at Stoney HQ.
The EP predictably soars as it slinks with moments of busy noise and others, pure vocal flex that we’ve come to love from Mr Blake and his consistent output. It does signal a sign of evolution though with more rhythmic elements and silly grooves to capture the minds and ears of more recent fans perhaps.
Equally exciting news is a return to Boiler Room with a set penned for Friday the 16th and what will surely be an eclectic mix of bass, beats and obscure electronic cuts as per his 2010 ‘vintage’ set;
